A teenager is to stand trial later this month charged with the murder of a young cleaner in Glasgow.

Tianhui Zhan is accused of killing Michael Davis, 21, in the city's West Campbell Street last October.

The 19-year-old, also known as Jeff Zhan, appeared at a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Lord Brailsford adjourned the hearing until a trial, which is due to begin at the High Court in Kilmarnock on 23 June.

Mr Zhan is said to have repeatedly struck Mr Davis with a knife or similar instrument, leaving him so severely injured that he died in hospital the next day.

The 21-year-old, from the city's Germiston area, is believed to have finished his cleaning shift at the Student Loans Company. He was walking to another job when it is claimed he was attacked.
