A 32-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering a young man in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

Paul Douglass, 20, was found with serious injuries after a fight in the town's Mallard Close on 29 April.

He was taken to nearby Hairmyres Hospital but died a short time later.

John Steele, from East Kilbride, made no plea or declaration at Hamilton Sheriff Court. The case was committed for further examination and Steele was remanded in custody.

Last month around 300 people marched through the town in honour of Mr Douglass and to raise awareness of knife crime.
