Murder hunt after daylight street stabbing in Airdrie

A murder investigation is under way after the death of man in Airdrie in North Lanarkshire.

Christopher Devlin, 30, was found lying in Whinhall Avenue in the town, suffering from stab injuries, at about 1350 BST on Saturday.

He died later in Monklands Hospital. Police said his family had been left devastated.

Detectives have appealed for anyone in the local community with information to come forward.

Officers have been carrying out extensive inquires to establish what happened to the 30-year-old.

Det Insp Bob Frew from Airdrie CID said: "This man was found bleeding in the street in broad daylight on a Saturday afternoon, and I have no doubt that the answer to what happened to Christopher lies within the local community.

"Therefore, I would appeal to anyone who was in the Whinhall area of Airdrie around 1350 hours on Saturday to contact police urgently."
