Police drop sexual assault inquiry in Rhu village

Police have said they are no longer investigating an alleged rape which took place in a coastal village in Argyll and Bute.

A 25-year-old woman reported to police that she had been the victim of a serious sexual assault.

It was said to have taken place as she walked along Gareloch Road in Rhu.

A Strathclyde Police statement said: "Further enquiries have been carried out and this incident is no longer being investigated by police."
