Cambuslang car crash kills man and injures son

A 42-year old man has died and his son has been seriously injured following a road crash in Cambuslang on Wednesday.

Officers from Strathclyde Police said that at around 1255 hours, the man was driving his car along Hamilton Road.

As he approached the crest of a hill, it appeared the vehicle lost control, left the road and collided with a lamp post.

Emergency services attended but the man died at the scene. His son, who was in the front seat, suffered a head injury.

He was taken to Wishaw General Hospital where he is detained in a stable condition.

Police said that a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
