Woman tied up and robbed at her Stonehouse home

A 39-year-old woman has been tied up and robbed by two men in her home in South Lanarkshire.

The men gained entry to the woman's house in the village of Stonehouse, near Hamilton, at 1330 BST on Monday.

The later made off with personal papers and cash. The woman managed to contact a friend who called police.

She was treated for a minor head injury at Wishaw General Hospital. Strathclyde Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

'Horrific experience'

Det Con Jim Conway said: "This was a terrifying experience for this woman, and although not seriously injured, is extremely distressed and shocked at what has happened.

"To be tied up by two men and threatened must have been a horrific experience for her.

"We don't have any further information on the two men responsible at this time, however, the vehicle they were in is described as a dark blue older-style hatchback, possibly a Vauxhall.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen a car matching this description in the local area yesterday, or anyone with any information that may assist police inquiries, to contact us."
