Community appeal

Police are appealing to the two men and woman from the group to come forward as they believe one of them could hold vital information.

The suspect was described as white, with light coloured, red hair and was of medium build. He was wearing a red tracksuit with dark coloured stripes down the sleeves.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and examining CCTV images.

Det Con Iain Hamilton said: "This area is mainly residential and I feel sure that the answer to solving this crime lies within the local community.

"I would appeal to all local residents who have any knowledge of the suspect or the incident to please get in touch with us.

"I would also urge the other members of the group to contact us - undoubtedly, they will have additional information which could assist our inquiries and help us trace whoever is responsible for this violent attack."
