Rape charge remand prisoner Bryan Galloway dies in jail

A 35-year-old man has died while on remand in Greenock Prison in Inverclyde.

Bryan Ferguson Galloway was remanded in custody from Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Tuesday on a charge of assault with intent to rape.

The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) said that the 35-year-old died on Wednesday. His family have been informed.

In a statement, the SPS said the matter would be reported to the procurator fiscal.
