Weapons stolen in gunsmith raid

Weapons worth several thousand pounds have been stolen during a break-in at a gunsmiths in Renfrewshire.

Masked men broke into Dalgleish Gunsmiths, in Montgomery Street, Eaglesham, at about 01:35 and made off with shotguns and rifles.

It is the second time in less than a year that weapons have been stolen from the store during an early morning raid.

Police believe three men were involved and made off in a small silver hatchback car with a rear spoiler.

They were thought to be travelling in the direction of nearby East Kilbride. No descriptions of the men are available.

Police said no ammunition or explosives were stolen.

Det Sgt Gary Miller, of Strathclyde Police, said: "Although this area would have been quiet at this time, taxis may have been in area, dropping people off for example.

"We are currently checking CCTV and carrying out door-to-door inquiries, however, I would like to hear from anyone who saw the car in the area either before or after the break in or who has any information about the incident or the whereabouts of the guns."
