Strathclyde Park cyclist finds £22,000 heroin stash

A man who stopped for a drink while cycling in Strathclyde Park has discovered a £22,000 stash of heroin.

The cyclist noticed a man hiding items in the undergrowth when he stopped in the park's Bothwellhaugh Road at about 15:20 on 25 July.

He waited until the man left and found a number of plastic containers and bags buried under soil and foliage which appeared to contain drugs.

Police were called to the North Lanarkshire park and seized the haul.

The suspect was described as white, aged between 25 and 35 years old, between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall, clean shaven, with short light brown hair.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white or light-coloured top and dark trousers.
