A woman critically injured in a deliberate house fire at her home in Helensburgh has been told of the deaths of her two children and husband.

Angela Sharkey, 46, escaped from the burning first-floor flat on 24 July, and remains in a critical but stable condition in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Thomas Sharkey, 21, and Bridget, 8, died following the blaze. Their father Thomas, 55, died six days later.

The police are treating the case as a murder investigation.

On Wednesday, police launched a fresh appeal for information.

Det Supt Peter McPike, who is leading the investigation, said answers to the murder inquiry lay within the local community.

Officers are examining CCTV footage in an attempt to identifying people or vehicles seen in the area at the time of the fire.
