Firearm raid in Carmunock Road nets five-figure sum
A security guard has been robbed of a five-figure sum of cash after being threatened with a firearm in the south side of Glasgow.
The G4S guard was confronted by two men outside the Bank of Scotland in Carmunnock Road, at 10:35 on Tuesday.
The suspects made off in a car which was set on fire a few streets away.
The security guard was not injured, but has been left badly shaken. Police are conducting door-to-door enquiries and are studying CCTV footage.
Det Insp Scott McMillan, of Strathclyde Police, said: "The car involved in this robbery was set on fire a few streets away and enquiries are also ongoing to gather any forensic evidence from the burnt-out vehicle.
"I would stress that enquiries are still at a very early stage, but would urge anyone who was in that area of Carmunnock Road this morning around the time the robbery took place, who may have information that will help police enquiries to contact Cathcart police office."
