Man critical after Dumbarton street assault

A 30-year-old man has been the victim of a serious assault thought to have involved three people.

The attack took place in Hawthornhill Road in Dumbarton at about 19:00 on Friday.

The victim is being treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where his condition has been described as "critical but stable".

Police officers have started an investigation, and said they are looking for two men and a woman.

They have been described as being between 20 and 30 years old. One of the men was wearing a green and white striped top, and the woman wore her hair in a pony tail.

Det Con Iain Lobban at Dumbarton police office said: "Officers are currently in the area carrying out inquiries and gathering any CCTV footage.

"We have also been made aware of a black car seen in Hawthornhill Road around the time of this incident and I would appeal for its occupants to come forward."
