Man, 19, found critically injured in Motherwell close

A man has been found with serious head injuries in a close in Columba Crescent in Motherwell.

He was discovered at about 12:30 on Sunday and taken to Wishaw General Hospital. His condition is described as being "critical".

The police have said the 19-year-old is not local to the area and has not been able to speak to them.

They have appealed for anyone who saw a young man, of average height and build, with fair hair, in the area on Sunday.

Det Sgt Craig Hosie of Wishaw CID said: "He suffered serious head injuries and is critical in hospital.

"So far we have not been able to speak to him so it is imperative that we find out where he was and what happened.

"Was he at a party in the area? Was he visiting friends?"

The man was found wearing dark denims, a white T-shirt and a blue zipper jacket.
