Biker dies in collision with car in Airdrie

A 21-year-old motorbike rider has died after coming off his bike in Airdrie, before being hit by a car.

Scott Stevenson, who is from the town, was riding his green Aprillia motorbike northbound on Woodhall Street, Chapelhall.

Strathclyde Police said he appeared to have lost control and came off the bike, falling onto the road.

He was then struck by a southbound Audi A6 and died at the scene. The accident happened at about 11:30 on Saturday.

The 26-year-old man who was driving the car was not injured.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
