Firefighters treated after blaze at Douglas flat

Two firefighters have been injured in a blaze at a block of flats in South Lanarkshire.

The fire broke out in the Blue Tower area of Douglas shortly after 23:00 on Thursday night.

The occupant of the flat escaped and was treated in hospital for the effects of smoke inhalation. The two firefighters had minor injuries.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service said crews had been met with a well-developed fire on the ground floor.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat to conduct a search and extinguish the blaze.
