Police in Glasgow investigate Tollcross street attack

A man has been seriously injured in a street attack in Glasgow, which police are treating as attempted murder.

The 33-year-old was walking with a friend along Braidfauld Street in the Tollcross area at 22:45 on Friday when they were confronted by two other men.

The two attackers chased them into nearby Downfield Street, where the 33-year-old was stabbed repeatedly.

He is said to be in a serious but stable condition in Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

The victim's 27-year-old companion was not injured.

The suspects have been described as white, around 5ft 8in or 5ft 9in tall, and of medium build. They were wearing dark clothing.

Det Con James Fingland of Shettleston police office said: "This would appear to be a vicious, unprovoked attack on a man, which has left him with serious injuries.

"Officers are currently examining CCTV footage and making door to door inquiries in the area in an attempt to establish the full circumstances of this incident."

Strathclyde Police have asked anyone who witnessed the attack to call Shettleston CID on 0141 532 4800.
