Erskine Bridge crash: Appeal after boy, 12, killed

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 12-year-old boy was killed and a woman injured in a car crash on the Erskine Bridge in West Dunbartonshire.

The 41-year-old woman's Citroen C3 crashed on the northbound carriageway, near the Clydebank and Dumbarton cut-offs, at about 11:55 on Sunday.

The boy, who was a passenger, died at the scene. The woman was treated in hospital and later released.

No other vehicles were involved. The bridge was closed for six hours.

Police said a full report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Insp Dean Pennington, from the Strathclyde force's road policing department, is appealing for any witnesses to the crash to get in touch.
