Teen in court over teacher stabbing in Coatbridge

A teenager has appeared in court in connection with the attempted murder of a teacher who was attacked outside his home in North Lanarkshire.

Ian Howson, 57, was stabbed in the Blairhill area of Coatbridge on 10 October after confronting three men near his neighbour's car.

Liam Mcgowan was charged with attempted murder, theft from a motor vehicle, vandalism and housebreaking.

The 19-year-old from Coatbridge made no plea or declaration.
