British Transport Police (BTP) have released CCTV images of three men they want to trace in connection with a serious assault in South Lanarkshire.

The victim of the attack was left with facial injuries, including a fractured cheek bone, after being repeatedly punched at Hamilton West train station.

The attack happened at about 23:35 on 17 September.

The three men got off of a train from Glasgow and left the station shortly afterwards onto Clydesdale Street.

Det Con David McVean, of BTP, said: "I am appealing for anyone who was on the train or at the station and who may have information regarding the identity of the three males to contact me as a matter of urgency."
