Boy critical after being hit by car in Glasgow

A 15-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after being knocked down by a car in the southside of Glasgow.

He was struck by a Vauxhall Astra as he ran across Clarkston Road near to Williamwood Drive in Netherlee at about 20:35 on Saturday.

He was being treated for serious head injuries.

Police said he had been with a group of friends who were in fancy dress. They appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Sgt David Carballo from Strathclyde Police's road policing unit said: "Most of the group were in fancy dress so would have been noticeable to people in the area.

"Clarkston Road is a very busy area, both with traffic and pedestrians, so there would have been people about who saw what happened."
