Man 'set upon' by three youths in East Kilbride

A 40-year-old man has been seriously injured in an attack by three youths in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

Police said three young men set upon the man after an argument as he walked past them in the Alderstocks area just after midnight on Saturday.

He suffered serious face and head injuries and briefly lost consciousness before making his way to a neighbour's house for help.

Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.

The man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital.

The three suspects were described as in their early to mid 20s, between 5ft 5ins and 5ft 7ins in height, of medium build, with shaven heads.

All of them were wearing dark coloured clothing, jeans and dark jackets.

Det Con Jim Waddell said: "There is a strong possibility the three suspects are known by local people and they may have been seen earlier in the evening in and around the area.

"I would appeal to local residents to contact us with any information. This is a local man who has been attacked and any information could prove vital in helping us trace the men responsible for this attack."
