Man seriously injured in Glasgow gang attack

A 44-year-old man has been seriously injured in an attack by a gang of up to 12 youths in the Sandyhills area of Glasgow.

Police said the man was chased by between eight and 12 youths then assaulted in Ardgay Street at about 20:00 on Saturday.

He suffered head and face injuries. The group also stole medication from him.

Officers described the attack as "vicious" and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The suspects were described as white and between 15 and 20 years of age.

One had dirty, fair hair and was wearing a grey hooded top and carrying a laptop.

The group ran off towards Culross Lane.

Det Con Morag Gibson said: "We believe that the man spoke to the person holding the laptop as he was walking along Culross Lane towards the park at Strowan Street.

"Following that the exchange the group then ran towards him and chased him into Ardgay Street where he was viciously assaulted.

"The group also stole prescribed medication he had on him. Obviously if this medication is taken by someone it is not prescribed to then it could have serious consequences, so I would warn people to be vigilant if offered to them or found."
