Blaze kills Irvine boutique owner Lea-Anne McClunie

A woman killed in a fire in North Ayrshire died inside the "dream" fashion boutique she opened following the death of her father.

Lea-Anne McClunie was found by fire crews in Allure Boutique, High Street, Irvine, early on Thursday morning.

It is understood the 33-year-old died at the scene.

On her Facebook page, Ms McClunie said she decided to "follow my dream of owning my own business as I learned life is too short after losing my dad".

The entry described how she had opened the business after leaving her job with BT "after 12 fantastic years".

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 05:42 on Thursday.

When fire crews arrived they found a "severe fire" with heavy smoke coming from the building.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered and started search and rescue operations.

The fire was brought under control after Ms McClunie had been taken from the building.
