SNP wins by-election in Oban North and Lorn ward

The Scottish National Party has won the by-election for the Oban North and Lorn ward on Argyll and Bute Council.

Louise Glen-Lee retained the ward for her party following the death in August of Councillor Donald John Macdonald.

She polled 1,081 votes, just over 41% of the turnout.

The Scottish Conservatives polled 505 votes, the Liberal Democrats secured 260 and other candidates polled a combined total of 603. The Labour Party did not have a candidate.
