Man held over armed raid at Newton Mearns post office

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at a post office in East Renfrewshire.

A shot was reportedly fired during the incident at Martin McColls on Mearns Road, Newton Mearns, at about 09:10 on 2 November. No one was injured.

Strathclyde Police said a man had been detained following the incident. He is expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday.

A report will also be sent to the procurator fiscal.
