Couple sought over stiletto attack in Glasgow

A man has been treated for facial injuries similar to a knife attack after being hit by stiletto heel shoes in an unprovoked assault in Glasgow.

The 24-year-old was returning home when he saw a couple arguing on Battlefield Road, Langside, near Battlefield Monument at 02:55 on Sunday.

As he walked past them, the man shouted at him, before the woman lashed out with shoes she had been carrying.

The couple then walked off in the direction of Millbrae Road.

The couple are both described as white, Scottish and aged in their 20s.

The man is also described as about 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and lighter trousers, possibly jeans, and had a smart appearance.

The woman is described as about 5ft 8in tall with dark brown shoulder-length hair and was wearing a black jacket and was carrying a pair of shoes.

Det Con Mark Hendry, of Strathclyde Police said: "We have been carrying out extensive inquiries and looking at local CCTV in an effort to identify the man and woman responsible.

"This was a completely unprovoked attack on a young man making his way home from a night out celebrating his 24th birthday with friends and minding his own business.

"This assault is certainly no joke - the victim has been left with injuries similar to those inflicted with a knife. This horrible and needless attack has left the man scared for life and it is vital that we trace the couple and particularly the woman responsible."

Det Con Hendry appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have seen a couple arguing or perhaps noticed a woman walking without shoes to contact police.
