Pedestrian dies after being struck by car in Johnstone

A woman in her 70s has been knocked down and killed in Johnstone in Renfrewshire.

The 74-year-old woman was hit by a car as she crossed the High Street in the town, near to Laigh Cartside Street, at about 16:20.

Strathclyde Police said she was struck by a Honda Jazz being driven by a 72-year-old woman.

The injured woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, but died shortly afterwards.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
