Man in court over death of James Simpson in Ashgill
A man has appeared in court charged with murdering a pensioner during the alleged theft of his car.
James Simpson, 76, died after being hit by the Land Rover Discovery outside his house in Ashgill, near Larkhall, South Lanarkshire, on 29 November.
Christopher Grenfell, 25, made no plea or declaration at Hamilton Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.
A 32-year-old man who was also arrested over Mr Simpson's death has been released pending further inquiries.
