Council seizes suspected counterfeit Blossom Hill wine

Trading standards officials in Glasgow have seized bottles of Blossom Hill wine suspected of being counterfeit.

The action came after a member of the public, who bought wine from a shop in the city, raised concerns with trading standards in East Renfrewshire.

They confirmed the White Zinfandel was fake and are now testing the liquid to determine whether it could be harmful.

Drinks firm Diageo, which manufactures Blossom Hill, urged consumers to report any suspected counterfeit brands.

East Renfrewshire Council said its officers "spotted a number of discrepancies which pointed to the product being a fake".

These included Great Britain on the white label on the back of the bottle being wrongly spelt as Great Britan.
