Man, 31, stabbed in Saltcoats street attack

A man has been stabbed in a street attack in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire.

The 31-year-old was walking down the town's Afton Road, at about 21:25 on Monday, when he was approached by a man who engaged him in conversation.

The man then stabbed him before running off in the direction on Darg Road.

The suspect is described as white, aged about 30 years old, about 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with dark hair. At the time of the attack he was wearing dark clothing.

Det Con Michael Grant, of Strathclyde Police, said: "The man sustained serious injuries in this attack, and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital for treatment, however has since been discharged.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Afton Road at the time of the incident to come forward with information they may have."
