Boy found on go-kart chased by police in Kilmarnock

A man has been fined £500 and banned from driving for three years after speeding through Kilmarnock on a go-kart with a 10-year-old boy on board.

Police stopped the off-road machine after a high speed pursuit last May to find unlicensed driver John Ferris, 25, behind the wheel.

The boy, who was sitting behind him, was not strapped in and was wearing no safety equipment.

Ferris admitting a dangerous driving charge at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

He also admitted using an unregistered vehicle with no licence or insurance, carrying an unrestrained child and failing to stop for police.

The court heard he was on bail at the time of the incident last May.
