Driver arrested after car hits pedestrian in Glasgow

A 20-year-old man has been arrested after his car left the road and struck a pedestrian in Glasgow's south side.

The man's Honda Accord hit the male pedestrian on Haggs Road, near Pollokshields, at 20:10 on Saturday.

The pedestrian was taken to the city's Southern General Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

It is alleged that the arrested man's car and another vehicle were driving at high speed prior to the incident. Police have appealed for witnesses.

The second vehicle and driver have not yet been traced.
