A woman has died after being hit by a pick-up truck which was reversing into a scrap metal yard in Glasgow.

Helen Morton, 44, from Cadder in East Dunbartonshire, was seriously injured when she was struck by the Ford Transit flatbed on Lochburn Road in Maryhill.

The incident happened at about 15:45 on Friday afternoon. Ms Morton was taken to the city's Western Infirmary but died a short time later.

Strathclyde Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman said Lochburn Road can be busy with commercial traffic and asked anyone with information to contact Kirkintilloch Police Office.
