Glasgow Lord Provost's Burns supper raises £87,000

Charity fundraising at this year's Glasgow Lord Provost's Burns Supper brought in £87,000.

The event at the city's Hilton Hotel on 27 January was attended by Scots Makar Liz Lochhead and playwright, producer and actor David Maclennan.

The cash raised will go to The Lord Provost's Malawi and Children's funds and ReSurge Africa.

Lord Provost Bob Winter said he was "thrilled" with the sum raised for "deserving causes at home and abroad".
