Glasgow flats evacuated in gas scare

About 20 people have been forced to leave their homes in the west end of Glasgow after flats were evacuated following a gas leak.

Scotland Gas Networks said a pipe under Dumbarton Road was damaged by another utility firm carrying out work.

Engineers arrived on the scene at about 10:10 on Tuesday and repaired the fault. Police ordered some flats to be evacuated as a precaution.

The road was closed for a time but has since reopened.
