Boy, 13, to stand trial over murder of foster carer Dawn McKenzie
A 13-year-old boy is to stand trial accused of murdering a foster carer at a house in South Lanarkshire.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with killing former nursery worker Dawn McKenzie at a property in Hamilton on 24 June 2011.
He is alleged to have attacked the 34-year-old by striking her on the head and body with a knife.
The boy denies the charge. At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lord Woolman set a trial date for 1 May.
The trial at the High Court in Paisley is expected to last up to seven days.
