Murder hunt after Gorbals stabbing victim Gerard Dobbin dies in hospital
Detectives have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a 25-year-old man in the Gorbals area of Glasgow.
Gerard Dobbin was found with a serious stab wound to his chest in the early hours of Saturday after reports of a disturbance.
Mr Dobbin died in the city's Victoria Infirmary on Sunday night.
Strathclyde Police said Mr Dobbin, from Castlemilk, had been the victim of a "violent assault".
Officers had been called to a flat in Old Rutherglen Road at 04:50 on Saturday after reports of a disturbance. They found Mr Dobbin in the street outside the property, and he was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Door-to-door inquiries are being carried out in the area, and police are checking CCTV images.
Det Ch Insp Gary Thomson said police knew there had been a house party in Old Rutherglen Road on Friday evening into Saturday morning.
He added: "A young man has died as a result of a violent assault and we are continuing enquiries into how he came about his injuries.
"I'm pretty sure the people who were at the party have information about what happened and I am appealing directly to them to get in touch with us.
"We are still trying to establish a motive for this attack. We know that a disturbance broke out in the early hours of Saturday morning but it's not clear exactly what happened.
"It's possible local residents may have heard sounds of a disturbance and may have seen something which could assist our investigation. Again, I would urge them to contact us."
