Conductor hurt after Glasgow train hit by brick

A train conductor has been hurt after a brick was thrown at a train in the south of Glasgow.

The conductor on board the 23:56 service from East Kilbride to Glasgow Central was showered with glass after the brick shattered a window.

The attack took place at about 00:20 on Monday, between Pollokshaws West and Crossmyloof stations.

The injured man was treated by paramedics for a cut to his head but did not need hospital treatment.

Det Con David Merchant, of British Transport Police (BTP), said: "This reckless and stupid act could have had even more tragic circumstances.

"I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Pollokshaws Road, Durward Avenue or Shawmoss Road at the time of the incident and who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact BTP as a matter of urgency."
