The trial of a man accused of murdering Glasgow gangland figure Kevin "Gerbil" Carroll has been deserted.

Judge Lord Brailsford ended proceedings at the High Court in Glasgow after a problem emerged with one of the jurors.

Ross Monaghan denied murdering Mr Carroll, 29, at the Asda car park in Robroyston, Glasgow, in January 2010.

The 30-year-old had lodged a special defence of incrimination, blaming another man who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The trial is expected to start again next week with a new jury.
