Deliberate fire costs Cadzow Auto Repairs in Hamilton £100K

Police have said a fire at a garage in South Lanarkshire which caused £100,000 of damage was started deliberately.

Emergency services were called to Cadzow Auto repairs, in an industrial estate at Low Waters Road, Hamilton, at about 01:35 on Monday.

The premises, which supplied tyres, was well ablaze and had to be demolished after the fire was extinguished.

Police have appealed for witnesses and are keen to speak to customers of a nearby taxi firm.

Det Con Edward Mather said: "I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw anyone at or near the factory in the early hours of Monday morning to get in touch.

"There is a taxi company very near the factory and customers may have seen someone behaving in a suspicious manner."
