Warning over drugs stolen from doctor's bag in Bothwell

Police have issued a warning to the public about potentially fatal medication stolen from a doctor's bag in South Lanarkshire.

The medical bag was taken from a car in Grieve Court in Bothwell at about 18:15 on Friday.

It was later recovered but drugs, including intravenous Pethidine and Morphine Sulphate, were missing.

Detectives urged the public not to attempt to take any of the medications.

The bag was stolen from the boot of a blue BMW and discovered later on the nearby bridge at Clyde Terrace.

Det Insp Una Maider from Strathclyde Police said: "Many of the drugs stolen from the doctor's bag can prove fatal if not taken under medical supervision and I would warn anyone who has any of this medication not to take it.

"I would like to appeal to anyone who was in Grieve Croft around 18:00 and saw anyone acting suspicious or hanging around the area, or saw anyone with a blue doctor's bag near to Clyde Terrace, to contact officers as soon as possible."
