Indecent assault on woman in Glasgow's Shawlands area

A 26-year-old woman has been indecently assaulted while returning from a night out in Glasgow's south side.

The woman noticed a man following her in Kilmarnock Road, Shawlands, just after 02:10 on 2 August.

He followed her into Coustonholm Road, then ran and grabbed her from behind. He indecently assaulted his victim, before running off in the direction of Tassie Street.

The woman made her way home after the attack and contacted the police.

The suspect is described as white, between 25 and 28 years of age, 5ft 7in tall, of stocky build with curly ginger hair.

He was wearing a blue and grey coloured t-shirt with white writing on it.

Det Con Peter Paterson, of Strathclyde Police, said: "A young woman has been left extremely distressed by this incident.

"Initial enquiries have revealed that two women came to the aid of the victim and I would like to appeal to these two ladies to please get in touch with us. They may have information which could assist our inquiry.

"I am also appealing to anyone who saw a male fitting the description around the time of the attack near Kilmarnock Road or who saw a man running away in Tassie Road to contact me as soon as possible.

"We are carrying out extensive enquiries and looking at CCTV in order to find the man responsible for this incident."
