Sandra Patton sentenced over Christmas hamper scam

A woman who stole £1,635 from families signed up to a Christmas hampers scheme has been ordered to carry out 135 hours of community service.

Sandra Patton, 50, admitted carrying out the scam while working as an agent for Park Retail Ltd, a firm that helps people save for the festive season.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard how she was caught in October 2010 after her clients' hampers were not delivered.

Sheriff Alan MacKenzie told Patton he was imposing an alternative to custody.
