A 30-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a shopkeeper who was fatally stabbed at his Renfrewshire store.

It is alleged that Lee Anderson stabbed Javaid Ali in the neck in Sunshine Grocers, Paisley, on 15 June. The 48-year-old died in hospital on 29 June.

During an appearance at Paisley Sheriff Court, Mr Anderson, from Foxbar, Paisley, made no plea or declaration.

The case against him was continued by Sheriff Paul Crozier.

More than 60 officers were brought in to investigate after Mr Ali's death.

A £50,000 reward for information was offered by Crimestoppers and the Association of Convenience Stores and Scottish Grocers Federation.

The inquiry was also the subject of an appeal on the BBC's Crimewatch programme in July.
