Frank Craig admits salon syringe robbery in Greenock

A convicted armed robber has admitted raiding a hair salon armed with a syringe while out on licence from a previous jail term.

Frank Craig, 33, from Port Glasgow, had been free for four months when he stole £40 from Halo, Holmscroft Street, Greenock, on 20 October.

The High Court in Glasgow heard that during the raid, Craig told staff: "It's not worth getting stabbed."

Judge Lord Bracadale deferred sentence on Craig until next year.

The court heard how Craig has two previous High Court convictions for assault and robbery and was jailed for nine years in 2006.

In November 2008 he went on the run from Castle Huntly jail after failing to return from home leave.

Craig was serving a nine-year sentence at the time after being convicted of assault and three attempted robberies.
