David Carter denies impersonating police officer

A man is to stand trial charged with impersonating a police officer and alarming members of the public by showing them a photo of a naked woman.

David Carter, 40, from Glasgow, is alleged to have carried out the offences in June last year at addresses in Giffnock, East Renfrewshire.

At Paisley Sheriff Court, he denied a total of six charges, including breach of the peace.

Sheriff James Spy set a trial date for 17 May.

Mr Carter is alleged to have adopted the character of a police officer, produced a warrant card and questioned several individuals as he showed them a photograph of a naked woman.

The incidents are alleged to have happened in Giffnock's Orchard Park Avenue, Crosslees Drive, and Berryhill Drive between 10 and 28 June 2012.
