Paul McCabe on Wishaw shooting attempted murder charge
A man is to stand trial charged with attempted murder following an alleged shooting in North Lanarkshire.
Paul McCabe is accused of assaulting Stephen MacAuley at a property in Hill Street, Wishaw, on 2 September 2012.
The 33-year-old is alleged to have repeatedly discharged a firearm or similar item causing bullets to strike Mr MacAuley on the body.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges against him during a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
Mr McCabe also faces a charge of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
It is claimed that after he shot Mr MacAuley, he pointed a firearm at Natalie Hayes and told her not to reveal what she may have witnessed.
Mr McCabe is also said to have ordered Thomas Hayes not to reveal what had happened.
Judge Lord Burns set a trial for 11 March at the High Court in Edinburgh. The case is due to last up to four days.
