Man stabbed in street attack in Rutherglen

A 38-year-old man has been stabbed in an attack near a supermarket in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire.

Police said he was walking with two friends along the bridge at Dalmarnock Road, near Tesco, when he was attacked from behind by two men wearing dark clothing.

He suffered knife wounds to his hand and buttock. He was treated at Glasgow Royal Infirmary then later released.

Officers have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Det Con Emma McLaughlin from Strathclyde Police said: "CCTV pictures show a few cars - on both sides of the bridge - at around the time of the attack.

"I'd appeal to anyone who saw what happened or anyone with information to contact the CID at Rutherglen Police Office or Crimestoppers."
