Man's body found in Carnell estate near Mauchline

Strathclyde Police have started an investigation into the discovery of a man's body in a field in Ayrshire.

It was found at Carnell Estate close to the A76 road near Mauchline at about 10:30 on Friday.

Officers have been carrying out a forensic examination of the scene, near the A76 road, and are currently treating the death as "unexplained".

The man has not yet been identified and police are working to find out his name.

A Strathclyde Police spokeswoman said: "Inquiries are continuing following the discovery of a man's body.

"A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.

"The death is being treated as unexplained at this moment."
